Nissan Evalia: Our test drive.
The heir of Serena arrived: Nissan, using the base of the NV200 light commercial vehicle, has created a new minivan, the Evalia. His slogans, a few, simple and rational, you discover after a few miles in his company: roominess, versatility, convenience and affordability, both in terms of the purchase operation.

The Nissan looks Evalia therefore that niche of customers who have large families and need lots of space for children and baggage, but that does not mean spending a fortune on the first car of the family.

Again: the identikit of the customer of this model (which provides targeted proposals such as the Fiat Doblo, Peugeot Bipper, Citroen Berlingo, Renault Kangoo and VW Caddy), is not one to get lost in “quirks” such as the level of finish or driving pleasure. Priority are those who turn to a CDV (car-derived van) features such as strength or level of consumption.
Aesthetics and internal
The Nissan Evalia does not hide its origins to the eyes, a trace of makeup here, an incli there, a visual characterization of most middle-class, thanks to the alloy wheels and darkened glass surfaces, but little more. The model is derived from a commercial and reward his image certainly not trendy like a Juke with an enviable rationality.
The external dimensions, “sdrammatizzate” a discreet graphic treatment of the sheet, are the basis of a very spacious interior: wide, long and living well from more than seven occupants, the interior of Evalia afraid very few comparisons in terms of generosity.
The same goes for the trunk, a fundamental aspect of such a model: the space is a volume of one cubic meter full with all seats occupied, up to a record of three cubic meters when traveling in two. Moving stuff, and not too small. Between the minimum and maximum configurations there is a whole range of possible combinations that maximize the exploitability of space on board.
Is likewise in the spirit of the model, perhaps even excessive severity-of-trim: to dominate the interior plastics are hard and commands whose strength lies not in some very sophisticated design. The key concepts that inspired the designers here have been entirely different: ease of use and robustness prevail across the board.
Engine and transmission
The Nissan Evalia will be available in our country in three engines: the 1.6 petrol and 1.5 dCi 110 hp, available in two versions, 90 hp and 200 Nm and 110 bhp and 240 Nm respectively. The house is expected of course from the units in the lion’s share of diesel sales mix.
The 110 HP will record the registrations of 55%, 90% an additional 35 hp, and diesel will only count for 10% of total registrations, which should be around the year 2000, projections of Nissan.
For now, the model is available with manual transmission only, but during 2012 will come together to drive diesel automatic transmission, predictably, significant from business point of view of such a model.
On the road
Far away from any pretense of (inappropriate) sportsmanship, the Evalia has the classic behavior of road vehicles characterized by high center of gravity and weight important lenient when dealing with passengers disconnections, the Japanese MPV shows a clear tendency to roll, derived primarily by the softness of its structure and then the overall characteristics of the chassis and body. Certainly not designed with the objective of ensuring a particular dynamism.
Where you could do more in terms of insulation performance is: the level of acoustic comfort is very important to emphasize, since the car-derived a-shopping, but the 1.5 dCi has been felt in the cockpit, a bit ‘in all conditions. The unit that equipped our Evalia N-Tec (the top of the line construction) was the 110 bhp: the small four-cylinder Renault-Nissan, even in its most powerful powerstep, was noted more for his parsimony that for guaranteed performance to the car.
To transmit the power to the front wheels, thinks for a six-speed manual transmission will certainly rise to the occasion for maneuverability and ergonomics, especially given its characteristic position in the raised central console. Even the steering deserves positive feedback: more light, the command never tiring especially when maneuvering highlights a turning circle truly low, given the external dimensions of the car.
As mentioned previously, is decidedly out of place being strange itching to come on board dell’Evalia sports, even given the tires a little ‘under-sized, better not try the dynamic limits of the MPV Nissan and enjoy all of its ease of driving and its carefree and relaxed character.
One of the most important strengths of the new Nissan model is undoubtedly its price lists. Available in three trim levels (Visia, Acenta, N-Tec), the Evalia is offered at 16,900 euros from the 1.6 Visia. For diesel instead, it starts from 18,450 euros of the 90 hp 1.5 dCi Visia 20,750 and you get to the 110 hp 1.5 dCi N-Tec.
It should also be stressed that the launch the model will be supported by a generous discount of 1800 euros, which will add another 1000 euros in case of destruction. The Evalia our market debut on the weekend of 24-25 September, the same as the Micra DIG-S.
